I just noticed the blue Ford emblem on the rear deck door is loose on its left side. Before it falls off, what product is best to re-adhere it. I can barely see some sort of pin that may be a threaded post on the back of the emblem, but it could be just an alignment provision. So I’m not certain exactly how the emblem is fastened to the deck… post and nut (accessed behind the inner door panel), or just adhesive.

3M has available two types. They offer emblem adhesive and general purpose adhesive. Wal-Mart or amazon.

Yes, I believe the post behind that emblem is just for alignment, and that it is not threaded.

I would use heavy fishing line (in a manner like dental floss) to release the emblem, clean off the old adhesive, then refasten. Idea: If you use two sided tape, you might lightly heat the tape surfaces before pressing the emblem into place.

Good luck with this.

If no fishing line, dental floss works good too, and hitting it with blow dryer or heat gun a bit.
Also the 3M tape is expensive for what you get....small roll $10!
There's Dollar Tree stores up there too in Oregon, if you have one near you get comparable Super Glue brand mounting tape (indoor / outdoor moisture resistant)-- 4' roll... $1.25!

3M makes adhesive remover. Just pour it on the back of the emblem and wipe off the adhesive off.

I wonder what it takes to dissolve the adhesive. I wouldn't want to risk acetone on a plastic emblem but possibly a petroleum solvent like gasoline.

3M adhesive removal. Just wipe on and off. Adhesive removed

^ But all the various 3M products start getting expensive. I don't really feel like paying a buck an ounce for adhesive removers if I can get them for $0.025/oz. Same with Goo-Gone, I won't buy that when my old/leftover 2 stroke gas mix does just as well... if used outdoors of course.

Thank you all for the input and tips. We have an Ace just a short walk away, so I might get some of this stuff unless Ford used tape originally; in which case I usually try to replicate manufacturer methods where practical.

A auto body instructor o CD told me they used paint thinner. They slot of that product in the shop and they can't be buying all the specialty product, because it effect there bottom line. Plus they look at the year and mileage of the car, and figure its end life.
