Losing power and hard to keep started

Hey ya'll, my 2001 Explorer Sport hates being started in the cold weather and stala on me while driving sometimes. There is a burning smel coming from the engine when I'm trying to start it on cold mornings and have we told it mightbe my Air Intake Valve. It has almost 202,000 miles so I know it needs a tune up but has anyone else had this problem?

Check engine light is not on. I'm getting an oil change today so I might have the mechanic check it out and see what he thinks is the problem could be.
