while offroading of all places.. caliper would tourqe sideways just enough to stop the wheel at low speeds...

pulled the caliper off, folded up an old license plate and crammed it between the pads along with a painbrush handle, and tied the caliper to my frame with a tie down cargo strap. got it home. no way i was gonna pay $70 to have a tow truck pull me 2 miles...

anyone know where i can get that bolt?

My dad had a caliper bolt missing on his Grand Marquis. The only place I could find the bolt was at an auto parts store. I got 2 bolts from Autozone for $8. This is not an in stock item at any parts store, except for maybe the dealer but they wanted $30. Took two days for autozone to get it.

I have been purchasing items to redo my brakes. I have a 97 Mercury. The part number for the bolt and spacers is "H5065" from Raybestos. I got mine from Partsamerica. Should be able to pick it up from any parst store as was mentioned before. Mine cost 13.99 each. Hope this helps.

went to autozone.. they dont have the bolt i need. its not the shaft bolt thing that holds the caliper to the bracket, its one of the two bolts that holds the bracket to the knuckle/spindle. if anyone knows the size/ thread pitch, etc. or could measure it for me that would be awesome, as i managed to lose both, and short of taking off one from the other side, im kinda screwed.

im busy all week (out in the field through friday at least) and am supposed to take this very nice young lady ;) offroading this weekend, and would hate to have to cancel. If anyone can get me that info so i can run to the store, pick up the bolt and throw it on and then pick her up this weekend, it'd be much appreciated guys :D

I lost 2 from my VW Golf over the years I owned it. In short it just did not like rutted rocky ountain roads. That little VR6 though would drag itself over anything. Untill I cracked the K member :p

Tis a bit scary to lose that bolt isn't it :D I had a hell of a time finding a replacement. Finally I stopped in at a Les Schwabb tire center and they were able to look up the size specs and get me a new one. I went ahead and ordered 2 that first time. Glad I did because I had the same issue the next spring. Glad I had that bolt. I used lots and lots and lots of bailing wire the first time :D

Could you post a picture of what you need? I originally thought that you needed the one in this picture:

i dont have a pic, but the caliper mounts to a little frame type deal, which is where those rails in your pic mount to. and that frame mounts to the spindle/sttering knuckle via two bolts wiht like a 15mm head. i need those bolts

yea just normal bolts. problem is i dont know the thread pitch and spacing, so its kinda tough to buy them, especially since i think i have to remove the wheel to get to them :-/ and i only have one vehicle
