LOUD BANGING FROM FRONT!!

I have a 1993 ford explorer eddie bauer with a 5spd trans.

i had recent work on the car to make it road worthy
front u-joints pads rotors etc.

Prior to having this work done I took the truck off roading. The 4x4 was working great.
I put the truck in 4x4 the other day and a loud banging nose comes from the front drivers side wheel.
I have been told the the hub has not been put back together properly or the electronic motor that engages the 4x4 is not working? someone please help me out!!!

It sounds like you have a busted front hub. It is not uncomon as the stock auto hubs are not the strongest items ever built.

Son of a *****... Well Newbie sounds like I may have the same problem... Matt Adams and I were out trying to diagnose a problem that sounds exactly like yours just about 30 min ago... Come in here, start searcing the board and here I find your thread...

Mrboyle, that is not what I wanted to hear...

Now I have a question that goes along with this... Mine is an AWD, so if I pull the front driveshaft and this sound goes away will that answer my question that this is a bad hub??? Matt and I were leaning toward that or a bad U-Joint...
