This might be the problem but I know very little about the differentials and all that but we took my 98' 4.0L SOHC to the mechanic and he told us that we had a rear pinion seal leak.
So later that day...I was in a parking lot and was checking out the 4WD on my truck. I dropped it into 4W High and it sounded normal. Than I dropped it down to 4W low and as soon as I put it back into drive I heard a loud CLUNK in the back.
Could this be caused by the pinion seal leak?
Thanks for any help
