Hello, I am new to both Ford Explorer ownership and these forums. I was wondering if you guys could answer a question I've had for awhile.
My 2004 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0L V6 with 72,000 miles has had a knocking sound coming from the front wheel well. It has usually gone away within the first block of driving, but lately it has been more persistent and louder.The sound seems to be more apparent when turning corners, but it is happening even on straight, smooth roads. So far, the engine was replaced early on due to mechanical problems, and the front pinion seals have been replaced, also. Other than that nothing major was done to it.
I've had an uncle look at, but he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I've looked into it a little bit, and it looks like it could be either ball joints or something in that area. I'm really hoping it's not the same problem that the '02's have had, but it's looking like it could be. Any advice you could give me would be much appreciated.
