When I switch from cool air to heat, there is a really loud knocking noise about every 1.5 seconds coming from behind the dashboard. The higher the fan setting the louder the noise. Someone mentioned to me it might be the blend door and it can take 5 hours to take apart the dashboard to diagnose the problem. Living in the northeast, and mornings getting colder and colder, I need to attack this problem ASAP.
Another issue is when I go to put the car in gear, the shifter by the steering wheel doesn't move. I basically am stuck in park. Its happened twice in the last 2 1/2 weeks and luckily I was able to get it into gear eventually.
What parts might I need to fix the above problems?
