Have "99 Explorer with >100,000 miles, runs great, only problem is it has a LOUD roaring from under the hood, on HOT days, doesn't matter what a/c is on or not, you can turn everything off, and it continues to roar very loudly and only stopping (most of time) if you accellerate rapidly, (almost sounds like a loud fan), never happens during cool weather, and happens mostly in city traffic and starts after engine warms up. Most when temp is > 85 degrees, please help, I'll shoot it if it continues this summer.

Actually you got it right when you said "loud fan". Most likely you fan clutch. I would search on here for replacement because I have no idea how to do it :p

If thats what your hearin, more than likely you have a bad IAC,you can try cleaning it,but your better off to replace it.
