Low RPM when started or no start

Hello All:

I haven't been on in a while because 2001 Explorer has been great!

Until the other day i went out to go somewhere and I started the Explorer and it started but run at about 400 rpm then died. I restated it and it did the same thing tried again and wouldn't start until I touched the gas.
Same thing happened to my wife when she took it last night.
Specs 302 or 5.0 w/autotrans w/153000 on the od

I hope somebody has a clue whats going on.


One last thing I put pads and rotors on the rear end I need to change the shoes for the E Brake. How do you get in there to take them off and replace them? There's no room in there. The only way I see to do it is pull the axles.

Sounds like IAC valve is sticking.

Its been a while but the problem had to due with the security system for key and sensor dealer had it for 2 wks I even went and got it and drove it and it never shut down or acted up. Finally wk 2 he was going to take it for lunch and no start. There was no codes when 1st taken to dealer then it failed and set code. When they replaced the they reflashed all keys. Havent had any problems since then.

I had forgotten about it hadnt had any real problems until now shes totaled lots of good parts firewall back engine still runs, still moves broken r/side spindle
