my electronic shifter is not working. I got it to work about a month ago but never again. The button for shifting into 4x4 works great with the help of the "BFH" but cant get it into low range. Please if anyone knows of a fix for this let me know, thanks,

i would like to know too, since my 4low light doesnt come on.

some people told me to wait a few seconds because it takes longer to shift into low. this might work for you, but it sure doesnt work for me.

When I got my new Explorer ('92) the 4x4 shifter didn't work. My dad crawled under and tapped on the motor with a hammer while I pushed the buttons a few times. Eventually the 4x4 started working, and with a little more coaxing the low range started to work too. Now I just give the motor plenty of exercise (engaging and disengaging) so that in doesn't seize up.

I'm sure you already know this but just in case... you have to have your transmission in neutral before you shift the transfer case into low range.

You guys probably know this but, You have to be in neutral, AND be on the brake pedal at the same time for it to go into 4x4 low.. Try it, if it doesnt work, pull ahead a little , then try it again, it should kick in, I think it has something to do with the caliper, you have to be on the brake...

That's correct... 4 hi will shift on the fly, but 4 lo will only engage in neutral with your foot on the brake. If that doesn't work, it may be the shifter motor... try the tapping thing too... it helps more often then not. Then exercise it every couple of weeks to prevent it from happening again. :)

I had that problem before... Try all the stuff I tried. Here's the thread: Dead Link Removed
Mine works fine now, maybe you'll get lucky like I did.
