Guys

Have you done a lower ball joint replacement - if so what tool did you use (and where did you get it).

The question is can the standard Halford/Laser ball joint remover do the job or will I have to purchase (get my hands on) the more expensive C Clamp / Remover?

Cheers
Kenny

I've done several lower joints. Not too bad a job. A big 'C' clamp does help with replacement. I am not familiar with the Halfords tool so can't comment. I did get hold of the proper tool and it does make it easier, but you can get away with a piece of tube, a axle stand and a big hammer. Best to disconnect the abs sensor and remove the hub completely, tie the drive shaft up out of the way and you should have plenty of space. The axle hub nut is done up to 200lbs so you need a good torque wrench.
