lowering a 99 sport

didnt understand ya, when i get the alignment, will the shop ask why i need it, and will they automatically just install the cambers or will i have to tell them that i need them installed? also, wat are bumpstops?

You gotta be totally honest with these guys or they will try to raise your truck back up to get the allignment right! Tell them you lowered your truck and you want them to install the eccentric camber kit and get an allignment done. Make sure to tell them, do not touch the tortion bolt.

At this point most shops will turn you away. Keep looking. One shop will do it for you. I paid $200 for the allignment and camber kit installed. Some say I paid too much so don't pay anymore than that.

As for the bumpstop, I would like to describe it to you but head is not working right now. I'll post a picture when I get home.

seems to be that blocks are blocks. Just get a generic rear lowering kit from any autoparts store

THe bumpstops are rubber "pads" that keep metal to metal contact from occuring when you hit a serious bump. In the rear they are located on each frame rail directly above the axle, thus keeping the axle from bottoming out against the frame rail. In the front they are located above the rear side of each lower control arm and do the same thing. They keep the control arm from bottoming out against the frame.

If you lower your X enough you may want to shorten these or run softer more compliant bumpstops too help soften the impact.

I have Edelbrock IAS at $69 each from www.explorerexpress.com . If you are looking for something a lot cheaper with good reviews from members here go for Gabriel VST at around $25 each at PepBoys.

ok, wat i want to achieve is looking good with 19's or 20's with not much space round the wheels so i can drop in a supercharger. i basically want to lower it a little bit jus to that its got a lower cent er of gravity, how much should i go about lowering to achieve that goal

Swap all 4 spacers in the back and bring the front down so it's level or slightly raked (if you like that look). If your sport has flares it will look lower to begin with.

A drop of 2" plus running 1" taller tire would give a fuller look with not much space in the wheel well. If you don't mind the rough ride you could go as much as 2.5" drop on the front.

You wanna drive like that as little as possible, the more you drive like that the worse the tire wear is gonna be. One guy pretty much destroyed the inside edge of brand new tires in a month

I put 1" blocks in and lowered the front about 2". It was a little lower and looked really good with a slight rake, but it was just too low for my roads. I was bottoming out all the time and I was also getting a lot of binding from the 4wd.
