Hey, does anyone know how to drop the backend of a 97 X. I know for the front all you have to do is back out the torsion adjuster bolts, but what about the back. I read somewhere that you have to take the blocks out from under the stock spring and put them between the spring and the axle. Is this tue? If so, how easy is it. It does not look like that would be bad to do. Any suggestions. I only want to go down like an inch and a half maybe.

Its simple; just use the correct size lowering blocks.

Good luck.

Put some lowering blocks in the rear. It is simple and you have multiple choices for lengths to go.

edit: yea, like Aldive said

If you go with generic drop blocks like I did, the u-bolts can be a reall pain in the @##%. After you put them on the axle tap them with a hammer, then squeeze with a clamp till you can get them in the spring plates. Sometimes easier said than done.

So what do you do with the blocks that are between the spring and the bottom shock bracket?

This is what you need to do, wildman.

Thanks for the pic, it helps a lot. Seems to be a pretty easy job to do. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Once you have them installed, re-torque the bolts after about few hundred miles. Mine loosened up and made clanking sounds that drove me crazy for weeks.

What kind of footpounds do you torque these bolts to? I have not read anything about torque specs.
