i have seen one but i dont know who made it

As far as I know there is no such add on. Its another case of 'you want it then make it yourself'. I know some of those with LPG have just left the spare at home and use instant fix for punctures. (or call the AA/RAC).

I have seen an explorer for sale on ebay with this set up, the tire mounted on the rear, with the swinging arm. I believe you would have to swing it out of the way each time, to use the glass or door.

I know some jeep cheros. have this does to them, to allow for more room in rear, as normally they have spare tire in rear.

Hi, For the price of a mount of some sort for the spare wheel you could have the others "jellied" like the plod do. No worries about punctres then, unless they are of a large nature.

Andy.

Hi mate,

Check spare parts breakers, UK Ford Maverick has a rear mounted spare tire, so do some Jeeps. :) :exp:

alright you UK guys, where do you get your lpg conversions from?

I think the Maverick spare is mounted on the door. The Ex will need a 'gate' type carrier (or a swing down type like some Froneras had/have) as it would be impossible to lift the tailgate with a spare wheel on it. Well, not without investing in some seriously industrial gas struts... Fortunately the rear bumper should be strong enough to bear the weight of a gate type carrier. They used to be available cheaply as after market kits for Land Rover 'Series' truck cabs that were fitted with a drop down tailgate. Should be easy to mod to fit the Ex if you've got a bit of imagination and a welder.
