M/C install with 5-speed DONE !

Thanks. I guess to better describe what I meant before. It looks like it would go up more than forward when you switch into gear.

Thanks briway!!! I was thinking about changing the shift boot to one of those leather cone types, but I am not quite sure on the look yet!!

I think the cone shift boot would look good. Go for it. I love that setup. I wish now that I had a 5 speed.

Hey there Fuzz!! :D

Thanks for the thought..I may change it over to the cone type later!

See..I put the M/C I bought from you to good use  :D

 Good News..The fuel registers correctly. The M/C adjusted accordingly. It registered 13 gals when I first hooked it up,It had around 3/4 of a tank. I then went and topped off the tank. It showed Full Fuel when done..It shows I have 376 miles to go. It adjusts down as the miles go by!!.
:D :D :D Who is going to install one in a sport next?!! ;)

right here my good man, i've got the M/C with pig tailed wiring harness sitting in my room

you get that many miles to a tank on your sport? I can barely hit 300 if i'm lucky ~ 376 miles on a full tank means your averaging 21.6 MPG. That sounds more like the cruise range for a 4door with a 21 gallon tank getting 18 MPG

I will run the tank so empty next time and coast in to the station on fumes and see what happens. I just put 98 miles on it and its on 3/4 of a tank on the mechanical guage...98 x 4 =392......We all know how the guage drops like a lead weight after 1/2 a tank......You have an auto trans, Hokie..??

There is still a bug or two I can't figure out yet..Like it does not tell me Gal. used or my economy(miles per gal as I drive) I am hoping this will work it self out. I have read that they are kinda buggy at first! I may disconnect the Pos cable on the Bat and let the system reset and see what happens!!

Oh yea...I have achieved 22 miles per gal with mine..not always...!!!!!

Yeah, i have an auto trans and my mechanical gauge is definately not linear in its response, so i guess the 376 may make sense. But the thing that gets me, is that for it to say 376 miles left on the tank, it has to have a stored or preset fuel economy (maybe the average from the donor vehicle?)

Gallons used it should tell you righ away (i would think) and economy it may take a while to collect data and calculate. maybe resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes like you mentioned should work.

I have seen 21 mpg out of my truck once. I've seen 20 mpg 4 times. I'm averaging 16.5-17.5 right now, I'll hit 18 if I drive like an old man on long trips

Its a stinker..It does show what Gal. I have left but not what I am using at the time on the road in tandem with what I am getting per gal(economy) I am using the trip meter on the odometer in tandem with the M/C to do some crossover assessments!

Well, gallons left on M/C match what my tank size is.....example..it showed 12 left..I put fuel in, it took 5 gal=17 gal. The sport has 17.5 gal tank. It once again gave me an estimate of how far to go...it all adds up..soo......the M/C from a four door X will work on a 2-door Sport!!..Still buggy on the economy button/gal used as I am moving...oh well..I may have to use the 44 cal. on it if it keeps acting up!!

"and I'm telling you, son, it ain't no fun, staring straight down a fourty-four."

Keep on the updates, you're just futher motivating me to get mine installed :)

BigDakota,

1) You need to get fuel flow data from the PCM. Your PCM might not output this data. Did you tap pin 43 on the EEC connector?

2) The fuel level sensor sends a 0-100% signal to the M/C and gas gauge. Your M/C is reading "full" on 17 gallons, because "full" is relative. What does the M/C read after full? Does it drop down to 20 gall remaining, or does it drop down to 16?

Let us know.
