M50D extension housing

I just did a 5 speed swap in my 99 2wd sport, and I am planning on doing a solid axle swap in the future. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can just bolt up the extension housing from a 4wd trans to my 2wd or do I have to buy a whole new tranny.

Yep 4wd trans output shaft is longer.

Ok thanks I was hoping that wasn't the case.
