Help. I recently purchased a 89 ranger with the mazda M50 trans. problem I have is I think I pulled the wrong plug out when checking the fluid, I pulled out the one on the passenger side of trans, it is a 17mm plug/bolt half way up the trans and most of the way back, I pulled it out and dextron came gushing out, I put it right back in and tightened it back down but hope I didn't do something very stupid, can anyone help, could it be like a hold down bolt or a locking bolt of somekind, Thanks for any help, chadsterradios

There should be two on the same side. The upper one is the fill and check level plug, the lower one is the drain.

HI, I figured that much out when I pulled out the plug on the other side first, I stopped at the local trans shop and asked, it turns out the first plug I pulled is a plug with a pin on the end that engages and locks the reverse idler shaft in place, he said that as long as the locking plug threaded right back in that I am safe, I want to drain it and put Amesol synthentic in, I heard it will increase the life of the transmission..Thanks
