MAC intake upgrade for 97-01 exp/mntnr.

Can you turn the tube around, because on my '00 Mountianeer the bend is right out the airbox then travels back to the throttle body? Here's the link to the part. Thanks for any feedback.

That's just a bad photo. They just installed the intake tube backwards before they took it.

It is a good choice for an upgrade. I recently noticed on my X, the chrome tube contacts the upper rad hose which I think really heats up the tube so I am going to try and prevent that somehow.

Yeah I had that problem with mine too, never really worried about it though. Anything above 25mph the iat's were just a couple of degrees above ambient at worst.

Yeah, the thing about IAT is that it is measured at the MAF and the warm tube is downstream from that. With the velocity of the air it is unlikely that the warm tube has much of any effect on inlet air temp. I could see a degree or two at most. The upper intake manifold itself gets quite warm as well so insulating the tube is probably not worth a bean.

I would feel better if it was not touching the hottest radiator hose though.

A phenolic spacer helps keep the intake manifold a little cooler.
