Made My Own CAI for the 05!

I have been running my pepboys build for a few weeks now. I still have all my stock stuff plus a K&N from a different explorer. I am going to test that one out for 3 weeks and see if I can see any results.

I think with the pepboys build it will be about the same as a K&N filter swap out. But its 30 vs 54.99 (last time I looked at the price). Its no place near a true intake, but much better then stock and cheaper then a KN swap out.

well both filters are made of cotton so they last a while and r rewashable... the k&n ones may be a little tougher but it seems like pretty much the same deal... ive had mine for about a year and its worked just fine... 30 is def better than buying a whole system... yea a full smooth intake tube may have helped too but the stock one seems just fine

I first put the stock filter and box back in. I needed something else to compare to. I drove around with the stock for a day or two.

It takes longer to get real results but yesterday I played around with the pepboys build, stock and KN filters.

With pepboys build I get more engine noise
With KN I hear a whistle sound at higher rmps.

More results in the futur.
