Made my own sub box

Well this is the first time ive actually made a sub box. Turned out better then i thought it would (dont you love it when that happens).

Its not done yet, I still have to do a few more things such as seal the top to it (once i get proper wiring) and paint. I use ply wood because it was sitting here and free, and that it was my first sub box so i had no intention of wasting MDF on an experiment.

Kind of shows the inside of it.

All buttoned up and going through testing, seeing if I like it.

I didnt research much into the design, I kind of just thought up different ideas as i drew it. One of the complications was having the port size small enough to keep pressure for the speakers.

Anyways turned out ok, just thought it post it for comments/advice and because sometimes were just bored enough to look at this crap.

For the first time that looks pretty damm good. The only problem is if you send a decent amount of power to those subs, that plywood is gonna rattle. Otherwise you did a hell of a job.Congrats.

Thanks, I dont intend to go very powerfull with this box luckly, there just to be a home for my $14 subs ive had for about 10 years .

Im so happy with the bass.

Next box thats like this hopefully will be 1" MDF

Well just got home from work, and ate food, now im contemplating putting it in the truck and bringing it to my friends house to show em. Laziness depending i might go.

I was also thinking today, what if i used rubber undercoating paint on the inside of the box, seal any air leaks (after i use silicone of course). Also insulation for this one is going to be very complicated lol.

looks like a solid start.

if you rounded the inside edges or made larger radii, added some 45s and smoothed out the port mouth opening you'd notice a huge difference

Without knowing the tuning or anything, it probably isn't worth it...

Sorry havent replied, email notification stopped working but hopefully fixed now. I didnt care to put all that much work into two 10" speakers that cost me $15 canadian When I make a box with mdf instead, then for sure.

I dig the design, but then again, I hate to hear people nock plywood over MDF. With wood design done right, sealed and dampened it can be great. Seen some USACi comps with plywood boxes hit some decent numbers. Been there myself
