major accident~

Last night (1/25/03) 11:30 me and my friends went to a party out in the middle of nowhere.. we had found the party and had to go through some major curvy roads which was also narrow and based on steep slopes and hills... A girl i kno was driving her 98 Honda civic 4 door following us and seven other cars.. she was maybe the fifth car in the row behind me.... there was this corner that read (25mph).. knowing signs like that mean you can go maybe 10-15 mph over the speed limit i took the corner at 35 in my mounty.. the girl in her civic was tailgating me and prolly going a little too fast.. going through the corner my back end drifted and when i exited the corner, i saw her headlights turn side ways and upside down.. she rolled her car down the hill and into a ditch upside down... All of my friends in the seven car parade to the party quickly stopped and those of us who had trucks or suv's drove our cars around the bank and down into the ditch with her so that we could shine some light on her.. she had a female passenger sitting shotgun and two male passengers in the back.. the females were screaming and the male passengers were making their way out of the turned over civic..

we finally helped them out and they were okay.. the girls being in the front had hit their heads ont he dash board and steering wheel... about ten of us guys finally flipped the car back onto its wheels.. i had just bought a 15,000 lb tow strap and used it to tow her civic out of the ravine... we got it out while someone sent them to a hospital... because of her accident.. the party was cancelled.. dammit!!! luckily no one was majorly hurt.. and there was no beer or alcohol or even drugs involved...

It was a good thing there were other cars around when she dumped it....

yeh.. it was crazy.. i wanna post up pictures.. but i dunno how cause im not a elite explorer or watever.. i got pictures of my mountaineer(the good), my rebuilt supra(the bad ass) and her totaled car(the ugly)... hehe

Dang that is crazy... My mom drives a 95 civic and its pretty cheap on the metal im surprised there alright my 2 15s rattle that peice of **** like no other

hey clark ...it's not your fault .......but next time if the sign on the curve says 25mph......slow to 25 .....there's a lot of suv's and light trucks that can't take a 25 mph curve at 40...for one i believe my 97 ford x sport 2 wheel drive would not be able to take that curve at 40 ......if your the lead everyone will follow if you go off the road odds is every one will follow...when you said that your back end drifted you were pushing it to the limit.......that's my 2 cents dude ..thank god every one made it to see another day....

nah, aint no thang, i take the 25mph at 40 all the time. some are marked incorrectly though and they really mean 25mph so you gotta be careful...almost rolled one time. found out later it was cause somone hit the curve signs or somthing

hey digger i'll send them to you in a week or sO... ive been kinda busy lately.. and havent developed my disposabal camera yet... i jusst put on my spindles on my mounty today!! but i forgot to trim them, so now my turning radius sux!! i have to go and trim it tomorow morning before work... but i'll have the pics of that up too!! go ahead and go to trailpictures.com or watever.. my name in there is clarkkent.. i got pictures of my gutted supra in there..

hey digger.. how bigs ur torsion twist in front? i'm surprized u fit 32's wit juss a TT and shackles? i'm getting a three inch lift with 32's? u think i can fit 33's?

i did about a ~2" TT and i have the shackles and AAL in ther rear with new shocks all around. rancho 9000X in the front and 5000 in the rear. if ya get the skinny tire you might be able to fit the 33's in but do some measurements after the lift is on and see if ya have room in the turning wise. i did have to trim some in the front but very little.

remember every explorer is different and some will be able to fit it and some can't. me and section525 had the same set up before he put the 3" BL on and he had to trim everything in the front and i didn't.

really depends on how much risk ya want to take but remember if ya get 33's and they rub you'll have to trim and not all wil be plastic. and then again you might be able to fit them.

also remember about your gearing issue.

you got the V8 so you got the power to move it.

This seems as good a place as any to ask this question...

How is the recommended speed for a curve determined? Do they keep going around it gradually increasing speed until they flip a car and then say that you should go 15 mph slower than that? Something to think about...

P.S. Sorry to hear about your friends, I hope that they are ok. Did the Civic start after you flipped it right-side-up and get it back on the road? Just curious...
