k guess im not good enough to post in the 911 forum. jk. i have yet another issue that i need assistance with. i was driving down the highway for the first time since i put my lift and tires on. about a quarter mile down the road. i eased off the gas then got back on it. as soon as i got back on it the revs shot up and i had to coast to the side. i was in 4wheel. their was no power being given to any of the wheels in any gear. i need help badly on how to diagnose this. i really hope its not the clutch bc i replaced it last year when i got the vehicle. i dont think it is bc it was not slipping at all previously. HEEELLLLPPPP.
thanks
ben

Manual Tranny? I had a similar problem on mine, except I was shifting and i heard a little pop..then nothing. I had NO pressure on the clutch, the master cylinder was shot.

Pissed me off as my clutch had just been replaced not too terribly long before that also, i don't think mechanics know how to work on the ford hydraulic clutch, seemed to baffel mine lol (no longer my mechanic!)

yes it is a manual. what do u mean by their was no pressure on the clutch. u mean it was just free with no resistance. because mine still has resistance behind it. it feels the same. their was a noise that i didnt really hear before but i might have just been paranoid. i need some more ideas please. anything. how could i even go about finding whats wrong? i am more than willing to start taking it apart. thanks a bunch
ben

yea it was snowy. how does that question have anything to do with my problem??? anyone else have any ideas. what should i start taking apart first?

It doesn't, I was just making sure it was snowy. If it was dry pavement I was going to warn you about using 4WD on it so nothing breaks.

The "revs shot up". How high and did it stay reve'd??? Any more info on that?

the revs shot up bc i was trying to accellerate. but it was like i was in neutral, i let off bc i knew something wasnt right. it cant be the engine bc it runs fine, was still running when i coasted to the side of the highway untill i turned it off. so the revs didnt stay up they just dropped back down to idle when i let off the gas. somewhere allong the line the engine has lost connection to the wheels. could my transmission be gone??? thanks for the replys. let hear somemore please
ben

Sounds like your transfer case didn't fully shift into 4wd. Did you switch it out of 4wd and have the same results?
WIth the old transfer cases that had levers, sometimes as they got old and sloppy they would pop out of gear and into their Neutral area. With thoise you can glide to the side and shift them back in. With these push button tran cases my guess is that the stupid shifting Motor isn't moving the lever enough to fully engage the transfer case.
I think it's in the transfer case not the trani.

my shift motor isnt even on anymore because it crapped out. i have to manually switch into 4 wheel. could it still somehow pop into neutral? i have no experience with trannys or transfer cases. i didnt try shifting it out of 4 wheel yet. i havent even touched it. just trying to see where i should start first. should i try getting it out of 4 wheel????thanks
ben

I would absolutely try taking it out of 4WD. If it runs normal, twist it back to 4WD and see. It's possible you didn't twist it enough and it popped out.

I hope that's it. No money involved : )

me too! that would be great. ill try and go do that as soon as i can. let ya know if it works

it worked. hell yeah!! thanks for the idea tony h. i went under it last night and sure enough it had popped over into the neutral area. put it back to 2 wheel and all is well. till next time
thanks

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!

Now go to the local Dinosaur BBQ up there and get a Pulled Pork hero and a beer. : )

I love that place.

You live there or College?
My son was in ESF. at Syracuse

i live here. syracuse university is outa my league. im about to be goin to occ. onondage community college for the auto program. im beginning to hate the winters, since i sold my snowmobile to get a new car. theirs nothing to do.

That's cool. Nothing wrong with that.
Do you still have your Shift Motor? Do a Search on that on this Forum. there are plenty of repair info here.
On Long Island we don't have snow often enough or long enough to justify owning a Snowmobile. I spent a weekend buzzing around on one, they are fun.

Good Luck

yea i tried cleaning in out and fixing it. i coouldnt find the problem. motor workd just couldnt find why it wasnt working.
