You didn't cut him off but you did act aggressively. They can classify that as agressive driving or all sorts of other things. You floored it to catch up to him, if the officer feels there is enough evidence or however they base that decision they can persue other traffic charges.

Here where I live, if the cops did not have lights or siren going, then there was no active pursuit and they can't cite you for speeding once you stop. Also if they break contact and then regain it again they have to start over and the prior contact doesn't count. I went to court on something similar and the judge tossed it with a reprimand to the officer. They could still get you on the "road rage" though and that is very difficult to beat. Good luck though.

foo-sorry to hear about your predicament. everybody does stupid stuff when they first start driving and then have to kick themselves for it later. at least you know you messed up and learned your lesson. stuff happens. that said...you selling the shocks?

ah I never updated this...I got off easy.

Had my court date,

Judge understood my parents had punished me and that now I was working two part time jobs with school to pay for the increase in my insurance and the ticket. He said usually if this happens with juveniles and agrees with what I and my parents have done since the citation that he usually gives a 6 month diversion period where if I don't have another ticket by Dec 29th. I get completely out of any fine and points, also it's not reported to insurance.. which is the major reason he did this becuase he told me I wouldn't be able to afford insurance until I was 25 as they would put me on high risk.

All I had to do is write a 500 word essay on the "dangers of speeding" and take it to the clerks office. No biggie at all. I got off really easy. And I've already turned that in.
