I was thinking about making a prerunner style bumper for the front of my explorer. what kind of tubing would be best and where can i find some pictures of some bumpers to start brainstorming on.i have seen two on this page but are there any others that anyone has seen please post them.

Go to http://www.jamesduff.com/broncoII/exterior.html to the middle of the page. It tells you a little about the steel used and has a pic of it on an Explorer. The only thing is is that it replaces the front bumper. In my opinion making your own stuff is the best way if you have the know-how. Ive made a safari rack and rear receiver hitch for my explorer. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if you would consider this a pre-runner bumper but I made a bumper out of 2x3" steel tube (1/8" wall). Here is a picture of it with a high lift jack mounted to the front. Once I finish making my rear bumper I'll move the high lift to the rear.
