i have a 89 ranger 2wd with a 2.9L and auto. i have been messing around with the concept of buying my buddies lawn ornament bronco II and puting the 4x4 running gear under my truck, well that idea is looking better now that my spindles and wheel bearings are toast. does anyone know the posibility of this? will everything bolt in? btw the bronco II is about 87 with a 2.8L and manual. thanks

get a rusted out 4x4 off craigslist, it will have all the parts, and probably for cheap, .

thanks but my question is will the runing gear bolt into a 2wd? i can get the bronco for parts easily i just need to know if it will work in my ranger

If the engine is the same then yes. However, you will be putting a weaker Dana 27 under the front. It can't take much horsepower or torque, but since you are just using a 2.9 then it should be fine. You will have to switch out the tranny, rear drive shaft (the bronco II may not be the right length), transfer case, any wiring if it is electronic and the driver's side pivot bracket plus the front end. You may also have to switch rear axles if the gear ratios don't match up.
