So.. a long while back I saw a topic about my problem and now I cant find it even using the search feature. Basically on my 98 Sport the lock on the driver's side door only works sometimes or at least used to but now it hardly works at all. I can no longer unlock it ANY way except by pulling the cabin side handle 3-5 times. I can lock it using all the normal ways and such including the remote but it just does not want to unlock. Today I opened up my door and had a look at it to see if I could spot something and to my suprise I couldnt see ANYTHING. There is a small hole below the lock and handles and stuff but you cant actually see anything. What in the world am I to do? Anyone know something I do not? Should I just spend the money and take it into Ford?

I had something like that happen to my driver's door on my 98. It started not unlocking when i used my remote...all the other doors did. Then I couldn't get it to unlock with the key. The only way i could get the door to unlock was pulling the handle inside acouple of times. I finally gave up and took it to the local ford place and they had to replace the whole lock assembly. It works great now. It cost me $175 to get it all fixed. Maybe this is what is happening to you.

Thank you so much for the price estimate. You have no idea how much I needed that. :)

And yes that is exactly what is happening to me.
