Malibu Hood Latch Problem

Ok....so she popped the hood this morning to check the fluids and wouldn't latch. I looked at it and sprayed it with PB Blaster and the latch moves but won't click into place no matter how much pressure you put on the hood. Anyone have any experience with these or have an idea as to how to get it working again? I called around and searched the net and hard as hell to get a replacement. Only luck I had was 2 used ones on Ebay. She has to drive the car to work tomorrow and rather not use a Bungee Cord if I don't have to.

Its a 1999 Malibu 2.4L

check the cable, is it caught?
maybe you left something in thew way, ?? shop rag? or like that,

Cable is free, nothing in the way even the damn hood prop rod came out to make sure...

I really didn't want to but I tried a couple times and it bounced back up. This is why I own Fords this damn malibu has too many issues off and on.
