Manual and automatic AC? What do they mean?

What do the terms manual and automatic AC mean? I am looking at buying a blend door actuator. I have an 08 LTD 4.6l with dual zone and rear heat/AC. I don't have anything to compare it to so I don't know if this is what they mean by auto or not. If I had to guess, I'd bank on auto.

I believe that 'manual' means that you adjust the temperature manually with your hand by turning the temp. dial.

Automatic climate control works more like a thermostat. You set a temperature (such as 69 degrees F) and the system keeps the cabin at that temperature. Manual control just allows you to increase or decrease temperature via a knob/dial.
