manual and stock oil pressure gauge

Is there a plug somewhere that I can install a manual oil pressure gauge and leave the OEM alone.
I would rather stay away from using "Ts"I have found the further things with wires and hoses stick out the more likely you are going to snag it on something.
I hope I posted in the right place,this being my first post.I found threads about putting in a manual sender in the original electric spot but not having both.
I just bought my Sport Trac and would like to put some real gauges in it.
I have never trusted the idiot light type gauges.Thanks in advance

Sohc v6?

If you have the SOHC V6 I'm not aware of any unused oil port with a plug to remove for an oil pressure connection. There is no easy solution to your desire.

The stock oil pressure switch is located in a difficult place to access. I chose to retain the stock pressure switch so the oil "pressure gauge" on the instrument panel would continue to function. I installed a "T" for the stock oil pressure switch and an aftermarket oil pressure sensor.

I mounted the electrical gauge in a pillar pod.

Thank you for posting this! I am planning to do the same, and wondered if you'd mind sharing the thread size and pitch of these parts. I would love to have most everything gathered up before I remove the stock sender.

As I recall the oil pressure switch is 1/4 inch NPT but I don't remember the threads per inch. I used a 1/4 inch NPT street T with the same thread as the pressure switch. I think the Autometer electric oil pressure gauge kit sending unit has a 1/8 inch NPT thread so I installed a 1/4 to 1/8 inch NPT reducer. I suggest purchasing your electric oil pressure gauge kit first so you know what thread you need to match. I also suggest purchasing a new oil pressure switch since the installed location is so difficult to access and the switch failure is fairly common after 10 years. When you have the switch and the sending unit you'll know what fittings you'll need to match them.
