Had this issue for a while.
At cold start up a squeaking noise is present. Sounded a bit like a fan belt noise. Would go away after a few minutes. Did get louder over time. Was leaning toward the Cam shaft sensor as per threads on the forum but didnt worry too much about it. While on my road trip to Melbourne from Sydney the noise was present a various times even when warmed up. Decided to get under it Yesterday and found the noise coming from the front of the Gearbox area. Changed the Oil using the specified mercon ATF (castrol DX3), as per the owners manual and this morning the noise was quieter and less obvious, Even though is is cold here at the moment (winter). It also only lasted about 20 seconds. Shorter than usual.
The old oil was runny and a bit brown. It was clearly old. Raises the question, has the new oil improved the operation or has it just masked the sound due to oil thickness and not really done much else.
I have clearly narrowed it down to something in the box which is able to spin at idle.
Any thoughts.
