Well I was removing my front tire when ther hub fell off. I had just started to loosen a lug nbut when it fell off. It broke right at the tire rim.

So can I just go to wrecking yard and get another? I think I saw this one removed when the radius arm was welded up.

I haven't been in 4x4, anyone know how this could break?

Oh and what would be a good price for a used hub??

Crap!! I called some salvage yards and they wanted $50-75 for just one USED hub

dont know about the price... but a brand new set is only like $110

Well my rotor is wobbling and I am going to have to read up tonight on replacing wheel bearings and races. Could the wheel bearings going out bust the hub??

Ok so I read my Haynes manual on inner and outer wheel bearing replacement. What parts are reusable, I should replace bearings and races, but what about spacers or lock pin. It doesn't really cover repacking the fittings, do wheel bearings come greased or will I have to do that myself?

You actually don't "need" to replace much. I change my bearings once every 50k miles (Once a year for me) and I have 150k miles on the same set of races (same set of rotors).

When I was running the auto hubs I never changed the large nuts or the little key. I only replaced 1 nut because I was in a hurry and forgot the key was there (I know, stupid... my hurry up job too longer) and broke the nut.

Now that I have manual hubs (from warn), I still only replace the same pieces... Just the bearings, not the races.

Also, you can get a set of Warn manual hubs with conversion kit for about $200 (I think it is actually less). I like having the manual hubs as I can get 2wd low (just don't lock in the hubs when you put it in 4x4 low). This gives me extra torque when I need to pull something really heavy, but still need to be able to turn.

My hubs have already been converted from auto to manual.

Ok so I pulled my rotors and found that my inner bearings were non existent. The race was all beat to hell and there were only like 4 bearings and two wire rims left from the bearing pack.

I had the hardest time removing the spacer immediately following the snap ring. It took me 25 minutes to work it slowly over the splines.

I noticed while doing removing that spacer that the axle shaft was loose. I checked the other side and it was the same way so I couldn't tell if it was normal. Does anyone know??

Also since the inner bearing was disintegrated and the race smashed do I need to be concerned about anything else? Oh also there was no pin in the wheel nut. I bought the wheel nut remover but I could turn the darn things by hand. I didn't need it to remove the one side. But, I will need to replace it does anyone have the part number for it????

Edit: I was just outside cleaning up and putting tools away and I realized that not only was the inner bearing destroyed but there was no sign that a wheel seal was even in there. Good thing I picked one up just in case.
