Just woundering if there are any adverse affects to keeping the hubs locked when 4wd is not engaged while driving on the highway to get to the trails and/or fishing holes?

Thanks for all the advice so far.

Do to advice recived I am looking at aussie locker for the rear and a 2" coil spacer and aal lift in the very near future to go with the 31 trxus MT's i just put on. Love these tires.

I don't think there would be but for the 30 seconds it takes to get out and lock them in before you hit the trail why not just leave them unlocked?

It won't hurt anything... Just turn the entire front axle assembly.

But, as others have suggested, just lock them in when you actually need them. Takes just a couple of seconds.

BTW, it is good to lock in and put some miles on the 4x4 system at least once a month. I typically do this on rainy days so there is some tire slip to halt the drivetrain wrap up normally caused when running 4x4 on the highway. Keeps everything lubed up so it actually works when you need it.

Leaving the hubs lock will cut into your gas milage, as glfredrick said, turns the entire front axle. Also, make sure they are properly lubricated.

Also when driving on dry pavement, it can be harder to steer as you make sharp turns

You wont tell a differnce in gas mileage as it doesnt take that much effort to turn the front axle and it will drive the same unless you have the t-case engaged then it would be hard to turn on pavement
