The A4LD in my truck is going bad. Needs a new governor and the torque converter is going bad (locking up). I need to know if I can use the manual trans and flywheel along with the peday assembly with the harmonic dampner from a 4.0L Ranger. Also up to what year might work? I REALLY dislike the Ford auto trannies and I'm not putting any of the GM trannies in it either. I do like the Ford manual trannies and would consider the adapter thats currently for sale but that means I have to have another adapter to go back to my transfer case and its like $1000 for both. Which is worth more than the truck right now. I also know finding the right pieces from an Explorer already is harder than finding Hens teeth. So I'm trying to find a better option.

The 5 speed conversion is done often.

I believe JoshC did a very detailed writeup on this swap. Search for his posts and it should come up.
