My stock transmission blew up on my 1993 Mazda Navajo. I was wondering if there is a manual transmission I can install instead of the auto.

Is this a stupid idea? Is it a bigger job than just replacing the auto transmission?

Thank you for any help you can give.

This is my first post to this web site. I'm just a run of the mill Explorer owner.

Well I've seen a few do it on here but my thoughts are its a pain in the neck. Gotta add things that your Ex didn't have like clutch master cylinder pedal. I don't know. use the search button and see what comes up. I think the cost of the an auto tranny and manual is about the same anyways.

Welcome to the site.

I have the 5spd and can tell you that it is the biggest pice of crap ever made :) I hope that helps :)

I have the 5-spd in my 93 also, and I love it. I wouldnt go to auto for anything. :D:D

My first X was a manual, I liked it more then the auto I have now, but if you are going to do a swap I dont knwo if it would be worth it with all the time and money it would take.

Google says "I don't think so" but if you find any info on it I sure would like to know :D:D

apparently its not that big

there was soemtalk of the HD in newer rangers and sport tracs....i wouldnt see how it would bolt up to the OHV, but whatever. the M5R1 trans is what was in the 91-94s though....thtas the tranny i have.

Thank you everyone! Sounds like this is something I don't want to get involved with. I'm going to search around for prices now.
