I have a '03 Sporttrac 2wd with the 5 speed. It has the typical hard 1st gear shift, and I hate it. Are there any other 5 speeds that will mate up to the 4.0? This trans hasn't been beat on at all and just turned 100K! I'm not sure what the engineers did to classify this as a HD transmission but it seems like BS to me. I've had T-5s in many different vehicles and think this truck would do nicely with one, but haven't seen where anyone has put anything different behind a 4.0 other than this POS Mazda.
