One of the guys told me a little trick on the Mass Air sensor on a 92. I Found one off of a 5.0 Mustang. and all I did was switch the sensors. And install it back in. The difference was night and day, a lot more Throttle response. The 5.0 mass air sensor has a full 3 inch bore. The stock 92 MAF Sensor has about a 1.5 inch Bore. I would suggest this to anyone looking for some quick easy Cheap ad ons to get a little extra HP.

That's odd. I asked the same questions a few months ago and was told it couldn't be done because the electronics were too different.

roughly...

Well, The sensor Is already there, you just need the Body for it. All Mass Air Sensors are the same for fords. They all "look the same" but have different Computer settings and numbers. So All I did was find a Rolled V8 at my junkyard and the guy charged me 12.00 for the Mass Air Sensor and Body, and from there I just swapped the sensors and Replaced it right back in. IT's and AWESOME performance add on for such little money. If any of you try this Let me know what you think, Thanks Mike

Not Mechanically inclined

Mikey

My '92 X has about 180K on it and I've noticed that my parents '95 has more "get up and go". I'm assuming it's my MAS. Now, I'm not at all mechanically inclined, but I love to tinker. I don't even know what the MAS are or where to look for them. Beyond the basic identification and location, is there a step by step instruction on how to change these out and what I need to look for when getting replacement ones.

I appreciate your's and anyone else's time.

yes

Ok ready!
The mass air sensor is the piece of Metal inline with the air intake, right after your airbox or air filter, it has a harness going to it for the sensors in your vehicle, Remove your whole mass air sensor unit that in your air intake. Once you get it on a bench or a table, remove the two torx looking screws holding it on. I didn't have the "special tool" so I used a dremel tool and made it a flat head screw instead. Remove your sensor off the Mass air sensor body. Set it down Black side down. so the sensor will not touch anything, THIS IS VERY DELICATE AND EXPENSIVE. If you look inside your Mass aiir sensor body, the Bore is 1.5 inches.
Now you need a new one, I got mine off of an Explorer, Mustangs have them too, The bore on a V8 MAF Sensor is 3 inches. From there you install your old sensor off your explorer onto the body of your new bigger one. install it back inline with everything in your intake, re connect the wires, and you should be good to go. ALSO be sure not to destory that gasket. I used a Hobby knife to gently seperate it.

I'd love to think this is true 'cause it's sooo easy. Can anyone substantiate this mod? I wanna believe Mikey but I need more info. Are their any numbers or stats to support it's real world advantage? Is this really going to work? Is it really this easy?

I have looked at a 5.0 MAF body and yes it will fit BUT i was told i would need the sensor recalibrated for the bigger opening...... but i think the PCM would kinda figure it out and make thie mix a bit richer just watch the temp gauge and keep your ears open for pinging.
