max tire size

Im getting new tires for my 04 eddie bauer and id want to find out what is the largest size tire i can put on it without having rubbing or other issues also my eddie comes with 17" rims which actually become a burden when it comes to cost of tires so whats the smallest rim I can put on? and if this isnt enough who has some cobra rims laying around that they might wanna get rid of???

i kno the max size u can fit with a 16'' rim is a 265/75... with a 17 i think ud be safe with a 265/70
