Max tire width

I have a stock 91 XLT 4X4. Does anyone know how wide a tire I can fit on the stock rim?

I was looking at 255 or 265. Or just something a little wider than the stock 235.

I ran a 31x10.5 on my 91 w/stock rims..minor rub on the sway bar at full turn..

I have a stock 96 xlt and I am looking to put some 33x10.5x15s on my stock rims that are 15x7.0.

I know little about tire specs so will this work?

It would fit. It's not an ideal rim width for that size tire, but I've seen 35x12.5 on a stock rim...
The bigger questions are, are you lifting it, and are you regearing it?

I will be doing a 2" shackle and TT lift. I decided to go with 31x10.5s instead. That way I won't have to regear and can spend the $$ on other mods
