maximum tire size for stock 2001 explorer Sport

I have a '01 explorer sport, and I was wondering what is the maximum size tire I can put on it without having to get a lift kit. and how would it look to have a bigger tire? I currently go muddin' often, so i would preferably need offroad tires. Thanks to whoever answers!

31" is bout the snuggest u can get
