Maybe a dumb auto trans question

Hey everybody, i jut ended up buying a 91 Eddie Bauer auto with 106k miles on it. Runs pretty good, i think.

1- The engine kind of runs wierd. It idles smooth, but when every my foot is on the gas there is a slight rough/ vibrations that comes up into the cab. No mis-fires or anything, just vibrates a little when every i give it gas. Even barely putting my foot on the pedal when going 60 mph does it. Is this common? I've always driven well tuned little sport cars, and this is my first 4x4, maybe im just new??

2- Secondly my transmission acts wierd. I've had autos slip before where the engine will just rev freely, but this truck is doing something different. I'll be driving put my foot on the gas, and the rpms will go up to about 3k rpms, then just stay there. The whole time the trucks accelerating, and gaining speed. It's just wierd that the engine won't change in speed, but truck will accelerate. Just wondering if anybody else has this problem, or might know what it is or might be causing it.

For Number 2, What you are experiencing is overdrive, it will barely go pass 3k, if it does then it will go to the 4 and back to the 3, try driving it with overdrive off and see what happens

3000 RPM is slipping. We need to investigate what your problem is ... it will not go away and it is not normal.

Thanks for the reply glacier, but what exactly do you mean 3000 rpms are slipping? you mean something in the transmission is slipping at 3000rpms? What else do you know about his subject. This means the torque convertor not slipping? and some clutchs within the gears are slipping?

I just hope its something that can be adjusted, and i dont have to get a completely rebuilt trans mission.

Welcome to this forum! Slippage could be caused by many issues, such as worn or misadjusted bands, sticking spools in the valve body, worn clutch plates, loss of hydraulic pressure due to bad valve body gaskets or loose bolts, and leaking servo pistons. The use of improper transmission fluid, or a clogged filter or cooler could cause problems too.
