93 explorer sport
Got this 93 explorer sport 4x4 in March.Have spent $2000 in it so far. The transmission went out 3 months ago. don't have money to fix yet. Still needs 02 sensor. Abs speed sensor. And steering to fix . At the point if it's worth spending more money or sell it.

1st gens are ALWAYS worth fixing, they will be like the 1st gen Broncos eventually.

Not to sound harsh but you can't buy a 25 year old truck and expect it to be cheap to maintain. If you need a beater buy a 2nd or 3rd gen. Or a 4Runner.

Thanks for your reply. I was just frustrated with lack of funds to fix this truck. My intentions is to fix it up and drive it to work and in the winter. It has taken alot longer to fix than I have expected.

I know how that is. Mine has been on jackstands for the past month, I'm doing some work on it.

Keep the faith it is worth it, once it's on the road again you will have a getting-rarer-every-year vehicle.

Is your explorer auto or manual?

Clayton, I obviously don't know how much you paid, but Gen1 Explorers go around here from a low of $300 or so to the occasional one over $3000. The $300 ones have transmission problems, usually some body damage, and the interiors are in need of serious help. The ones that - supposedly - are ok as daily drivers start around $1000, and the occasional 'low mileage' ones that are in really good condition start around $2500 and go up from there. This is private party, of course, not from a used car lot. I paid $800 about 7 years ago for our '94, have put about that much more into it, and use it as a daily driver. I do, however, have two other vehicles that I could use if necessary (but haven't had to so far). The '94 is my favorite for quite a few reasons, and I plan on keeping it as long as I can keep it running.

if the body is good it's worth the money. ain't we all fool's. but I'd rather drive my 94 than my wife's 2016. fools I say, fools .. but love my explorers. have two and looking for more.

I will say junkyard, OR maybe a place like LMCTruck would have that. Also i don't know the damage yours has, but you might look into that plasti-weld or vinyl repair kits, there are some amazing products out these days, that produce sandable, paintable results.

Car-part.com has 2 pages of yards listed. Do you plan to fix the A4LD or swap something else in place of it?

Get it fixed. These things grow on you.
