Good evening, I have a 99 XLT with the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel and for some reason in FL they have melted off (black sticker material) and unless you remember what the heck they were for your screwed now. I though about just replacing them for some from a junked Explorer but another thought occurred to me. Why not find out what other steering wheels are compatible (other models with similar wiring). I certain I'm not the first to have this question and hope you could help me determine which will work and fit.

Thank you

Aaron

No real options, Aaron. Ford trucks and Ford cars use different spindles. About your only options in stock form are the Explorer/Ranger combos.

Or, you can go aftermarket like some have here... I think someone did an FR500 wheel?

If you need some new buttons, you can get them on Fast Parts Network or Amazon quite cheap.

I jumped on ebay and found "new buttons" and "new steering wheels", I figure if it took almost 8 years to melt off the 1st time I might be in luck.

Thank you

Aaron

anyone know how to pull out the old buttons and install new ones? My on/off button works but gives no "feel" that the "on" was depressed ....so just bought a set off ebay...need to know how to install them....
Thanks

From what I can tell with the ones I was looking to purchase they (button assembly) just unscrews and tada that is it.

2 bolts under the pop off plastic covers on the sides of the steering wheel. Remove those, then the airbag lifts off. The buttons are right there- 2 screws on both switches and you're golden. Remember to unhook the battery and let sit first.

Thanks Joe Dirt for helping me with the installation of cruise controls.
