Hello, i just got my explorer, but my family has a tradition of having extremely cluttered, messy vehicles. I want the ex to stay clean, but i never have anywhere to put trash like soda bottles and food/gum wrappers when im on long trips. The interior is very clean from teh last owner, and i want to keep it that way.

My dad keeps shopping bags in his truck for throwing trash in, but trying to open a plastic bag to throw somehing in while you are driving is tedious and distracting. I had an idea to use a wire cloths hangar to stretch teh plastic bags over to use in the ex, but im not sure how to mount it or how to make it so it will not take up a lot of space, but still be open enough to throw trash into without too much hastle.

Anyone else have a similar issue, or a better way to solve it and ways to mount something liek that? basically i think it would be useful to me and anyone else with a similar dilema to see any ways you guys keep your trucks clean.

thanks!

Honestly, I've found it easier to just throw stuff away when I got home at night, at a gas station, etc- I never felt the need to have so much storage for trash before cleaning it out... A trash bag just looks out of place no matter how you mount it.

well yes, but I tend to forget things a LOT and also sometimes if you are on a long trip, or ther arent any trash cans around for miles, you need somewhere to put garbage other than on your floor, especially if someone is sitting in the passenger seat.

I really enjoy travelling and spend a lot of time on the road and one thing that has helped me has been keeping an empty cooler to throw all the trash in as I travel and then empty it out when it gets full, since I usually travel alone I usually wedge it between the dash and the front passenger seat, helps keep it from moving and its ready to go when I need it.

lmao first post in my totally dead thread xD Well, i've gotten to where i just say hell with it and throw wrappers and bottles in the rubber floor mat in passenger footwell and take care of it when i get home. usually take the trash in every other day or so, now my issue is keeping dirt and grass clippings out of the back cargo area when im hauling the lawnmower in back lol. i use a sheet under it but it just doesnt work all the time :P

If you search the junkyards you may get lucky. I have found two factory carpet cargo area mats so far, and also a plastic cargo area protector (waterproof) that I believe was a factory option. They do exist.
