Hi people, been reading these boards but never posted till now. I just bought a set of Michelin Cross Terrain SUV tires to replace my Firestones. I was wondering what the recommended PSI is for these tires(235/75/15) on my 2001 Explorer XLS.

I am currently running them at 32 psi.

I run mine at 35. It's the max, but it's what the tire place had them at so we'll see...I think between 32 and 35 is fine.

Thanx for the response 95XLT. I emailed Michelin yesterday and actually got a PHONE CALL from a Michelin rep, responding to my email. She said that they recommend 30 psi for my Explorer and tiresize.

I was VERY surprised and impressed, at getting a phone call from them, especially just 1 day since my email. Yet another reason to love my Michelins.

The Cross Terrains have to be the most confortable/quietest tires I hav ever had. Everyone who takes a drive in my Explorer, makes a comment about how great the tires feel and the lack of road noise.

michelin only told you 30 psi b/c that is the new standard that ford said....... being a retired tire guy (america's/discount tire) 32 for best ride, 35 for economy and max for towing...this is the standard for all light truck tires....

Yeah, i've tried 30/32/35psi, and my butt, handling and gas mileage is comfortable at 32psi.

I run 30 psi on the front, 35 in the back
