Just got back from Midas down my street and they say it's time for a new radiator. I have never heard of a car needing a new radiator after 65,000 I mean it's a lot of miles but not that much. They told me the only one that will fit is $ 325.91 and they'll charge $80.75 for labor. Is there any thing I can do for the time being until I can save a little? Can I JB Weld the fine cracks on the side? Can I use that stop leak stuff you pour into your radiator and than use water wet so the water flows much easier?

Is it leaking? Is that why you took it to Midas? You might be better to take to a radiator shop.

Also, I have used sucessfully some of the "stop leak" products from an auto supply store.

Keep us posted and good luck.....

Ya I should have taken it to a radiator shop. It's leaking on the sides of the seams. Do stop leak products slow the water movement?

Some seam leaks can be repaired at a radiator shop.

But I would carefully weigh the repare cost against a new or rebuilt unit and install yourself.

Don't waste your money on a new radiator without trying to fix it first! Drain the radiator, take it out, and reseal the plastic endcaps. Its easy to do. I used an epoxy from AutoZone because my Mustang was leaking from the same place. Its been 2 yrs and its still holding. Try that first.

pfft, Midas says alotta things
