Hey guys.
just a quick one.
looking to fill the gap between my Pioneer 3ways and my 15" L5's.
I can potentially fit 2 6.5" midbass drivers, or an 8" sub. which is my best option?
Not looking to add to my bass at all, just to fill the gap inbetween.
thanks
Darren

I have have heard a system that used an 8" installed up front in an f150 and that really seemed to do the trick. It sounded really good. Of course he was running 3 13.5" subs so maybe you could get away with the 6.5.

to be quite honest, the 8inch sub is cheaper for me, but i'm willing to put the money down for whatever will be best.
any other oppinions?

if you want midbass install midbass speakers.

and 8inch subwoofer will not play like a midbass just because it is an 8 inch sub.

I recently put in a sub (in its own box). I kept the JL 6.5 which I put in the factory location a few months back. Tomorrow I am going to put in an amp for the 6.5 and see how it sounds. I will let you know if I like it or not.

amplified dedicated midbass speakers. Must be amplified and must be heavily deadened install with solid baffle and preferrably some sort of pseudo enclosure made for them. You can make small ported enclosures if you're resourceful to really improve the output

Do what Wagonized says. I think they make a bunch in the 6.5 size.

I highly recommend DD w6.5s

Hey, I just thought of something, your pinoeer 3 ways or those all 3 on the same speaker. If thats the case maybe you could consider getting component speakers speakers up front. If you get components with a 6.5 inch driver for the woofer you could really improve on your midbass, also do some sound damping up front.

I am kind of in the same boat as you are with this. Looking to get some midbass between my JL 12W3 and the kicker coax I have in the doors.

In my thread aznboi3644 said

if you want bass up front you MUST upgrade the front speakers...a lot of sound dampening.

high end components with a solid mid woofer that has a decent amount of throw and an 150 watt x 2 amp will bring that bass up front.

I am thinking thats something like what you may be looking to do.
