I was talking to a few people today about silver lakes and they said a midwest explorers club would be a good idea. I know NOIEC disbanded and theres got to be lots of people floating around who are far from the general boundaries of ECX. Just wondering if a club might make it? I've heard a few positive things about it, so i figured I'd post and see what kind of response I'd get.

Where would the boundaries or areas cover?

thats what im posting, just to see who's in the midwest, what states, how we would set up boundaries and all that...

I'm in, if Colorado is a part of it. I know a bunch of other Coloradoans here would probably join too.

well im in chicago, sorta far, but if we made a bigger club going from like ecx's edge boundary to colorado that might work(perhaps?)

Probly cause the bigger ya make a club, and then make events and few people come... then everyone is disappointed that the club really all couldn't make it...
Pete

That's a shame that club isn't around any more. There's got to be tons of people that could have taken advantage of it.

We've got the Kansas City Area Explorers club. It seems to be mostly an approx 200 mile radius around KC that people will join.

Yeah i know what your saying, thats why im sorta worried if it would extend that far, but i mean if we had events where we met somewhere in kansas(lol i dont know why) it might not be too bad. still a long drive however

our chicago club was quite big actually...if only we could get something going with that and michigan and all the other states that are around here. i mean for big weekend events that are planned ahead of time i can see people driving far. i know i might take a little drive if its well planned

Something that would be cool is some sort of open line of communication between all the local chapters. Say a group of IL guys wants to run Tuttle Creek in Kansas. Then it would be even cooler to get the local's there along on the same trip. The more the merrier as they say.

I know on at least one occocasion the Ranger KC locals invited a bunch of us Explorers to a run.

That is what I am thinking. Just do a large area and break it up into "chapters" by state or certian areas. I know I tried to get an Indiana one going and there where several interested. (just didn't try very hard). What we need (maybe) is a large club like RROC that covers everybody and breaks up into regions. There are people out there interested.

taxx im i can bring 2 down to indy anytime, i found another dude at purdue whos got a modded one and i got one, so thats 2 more right there...

You know I'm willing to be in a Midwest club. :D

Thats why I've just gone over there... cause they actually go out and wheel... and yeha, I'd be in an IL based club... streeters are fine, but if there was a streeter meet, I doubt I'd be there. I'm into wheelin

Well that's 4 from the central indiana area. Heck I'd make the drive up to PU, I doubt we can all meat at Harry's though, huh? oh well.

But anyway, I know last time I tried this there where a few others in indiana interested. Thats enough to get started. IT's like they say, if you build it they will come... Lets set a game plan for this baby whether it be midwest or all over and break it into chapters and get her going!:D I got a server to host a site.

Here's my other deal... Bein at school.. That's kinda first priority... So, I pretty much don't consider even attempting to do meetings, cept long term wheelin plans, cause well, I gotta do damn good in school... Also, I think the club should be one of two things... Be either explorer only (members) any other members (guests) or a completely open club...

But, if people were to choose the 2nd group, then we already got www.chicago4x4.com

But if we WANT to revive noiec, it could be done... It's a matter of us working towards it...
Pete

Yeah pete, totally agree, noiec can be reformed. Once i get my car down here I think i should be good for meetings on weekends. So that shouldn't be a problem, but I don't think im going to have too much time setting up the club since ive been pretty busy lately and school is only picking up

Seems like we are all busy with the same thing. School! I had my first test today and have another tuesday, between that, work, and the house I don't get to sleep much anymore, but I don't think it would take too much effort to get something going, just need a game plan.

I might be in for a Midwest club, I really wanna get out for a run to Silver Lake, MI next spring and wouldn't mind more outings as time goes by. Keep me posted on what happens.

If someone decides to take up this project and wants some help on a website, either design, construction, or maintanence lemme know I might be willing to contribute.

Okay well Im going to put a site together to see what you guys like/dont like and to see if we can get any interest. I have a request. PICTURES, Im looking for pictures of some trucks from some of you who might be interested in becoming part of the club should it become established.

I'm looking for some material to use for the website, so if anyone has anything they wouldn't mind me using let me know.
