Hello to everyone. I have just recently signed onto this web site. I found it by accident and I am glad I have. I find it invaluable to have oohter peoples input concerning the same type of vehicle I own. I am hoping to share info with everyone. I have a 2000 Ford Explorer, 4.0 6cyl, sohc. I have done some work to it, but have run into some things I am not sure of. I recently replaced my right front hub and since the tire was off I deciced it owuld be a good time to replace my spark plugs. I pulled the driver side tire off, to get to the plugs, and noticed a what looked like a strabalizer bar that had the top broken off. I have seen pic on here but don't know what it is called. All the pics show it has two bushings that are red on both ends of the bar. It is a solid bar. It is threaded on both ends. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Another problem I have is the Ford Garage told me that my rear wheel seals were leaking, but I havn't found them in my repair manual. I'm thinking they are in the hub maybe? Any help with this again would be appreciated. Two more things are 1. I have had a different engine put in and since then my display says "oil temp signal error" I'm assuming this could be the oil sensor, not sure. It worked before. That is a minor thing, and the last is my Truck has a hard time ideling. I don't know why. Any help I would appreciate it. Again anyone who could help me with this I would appreciate it. Thanks alot. Mike

Thanks for the reply. I had replaced the IAC valve, so it is probably the intake manifold gasket. I will have to check that. More than likely that could be it. Thanks again. Mike

are you talking about the sway bar end links maybe? they break sometimes at the top like your saying. try and look for pics to see if thats what it is. If so its not hard and only costs like 25 to fix both sides(doing it yourself)

welcome mike

Sway Bar

I'm fixing my sway bar today. I'll post how it went when I'm done.

Intake Manifold Gaskets

I'm going to replace my upper and lower gaskets. I think it will solve my rough idle problem. I have found some very good info here about how to do it. I'm fairly competent but still wanting to make sure I do this right the first time. I don't want to tear into it again and fix something else. I have seen where some guys use rtv sealent on the manifolds and some don't. My question is should I use it or not and if I do where do I need to put it and do I put it on both manifolds? The other question I have is can I put some silicone or something to hold the new gaskets in place when I go to install the manifolds? Ya know I build engines for a living, but it is alot different building them on an assembly line and fixing your own. They are not Ford Engines either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Sway Bar

I just fixed my sawy bar today. It has to be the easiet of repairs I have had to make. It took less than 10 minutes. I spent more time getting the tools together than anything. It didn't take much, of course I had help from my four year old mechanic. Good help is hard to find. Anyone looking to do this let it be known it is very easy. God is good...all the time.
