Anyone have any experience with these. They run like 1/3 the price of the Warn's. I really don't use the 4x4 much, hunting a few times, and if I need a back-up vehicle in the snow. No off-roading for me, and being I only paid 600.00 for the truck, I was thinking of putting a set of these on.

They should be fine for your use. They seem to be slightly weaker than the Warns, but that really only comes into play when you're into wheelin hard with large tires.

They are quite a bit weaker than the Warns but for your application they'll be just fine.

since we're talkin about different brands of manual hubs.. i saw where superwinch makes a set for the dana 35s, anyone have any experience with these? ive had my warns on for quite some time now and no problems whatsoever, well worth the money i think.

Yeah..I saw the Superwinch's as well...they are even cheaper:) I'm trying to find some reviews. Another question...I have a 1993 explorer...what hubs do I order? I see they come with different spline #'s...etc. What I am asking I guess is what exactly should I order. I am not mechanically inclined...whatsoever:)

the warn number is 29071.. not sure about the other brands. dont forget to order the spindle nut conversion if you are convering over from manual hubs.

OK...I was just reading the "stickied" thread on 4x4. I tested my hubs by turning the drive axles...they both lock after 1/2 revolution?? Is it possible that it is still my hubs? I can hear it engaging...the lights light up...and when I put it in 4 low, I can tell that the engine is bogging, so I know it its engaged...but it is definitly not in 4wd? I am lost. I don't want to order manual hubs if this is not the solution?? Any ideas?

Scratch that...drive axle turns without locking..I can spin and spin it...

we went through stock manual hubs every winter on the broncoII my mom use to deliver mail in. i kept tryin to get her to buy the warns but she didnt listen. i should have kept that truck, sucks.

the warn P/N 29071 is really a weak hub i have broken several. If you really want a good hub look into the warn P/N 37780. There is a little more info on the trs website.

i bought the warn man hubs and conv kit. my book doesnt have good pics not sure if anybody has any good pics on how to do it

looks like this is an older yet revived post, I've got the MM's on my '94 and they are a well made hub, don't look to be any different than the Warn's I put on my B2 several years back, I've had the MM's on my EX for about 4 years now.

My only complaint is that my LF wheel bearing loosened up last winter and I had to limp it home from work (40 miles), had to replace the rotor, bearings (of course) and ABS sensor, a very expensive repair job but I hear that breaing loosening issues are common with the conversion kits, it was the MM conversion kit, does warn still offer the updated kit with the set screws in the outer retaining nut?

...This is not older...There are threads on here from the 19 hundreds..:p:

...The link in post #12 should answer your questions sorta...That is an less expensive part number but if you get the same part from warn, they want $80 plus the hubs..;)

thanks for the info, that's the conversion kit but it doesn't appear (in the photos) to be the one I was referring to, the warn kit I was mentioning has slotted holes in the keyed washer and 3 (I think?) set screws that lock the outer nut to the keyed washer to keep it from working loose (in theory). I haven't had any trouble with the MM conversion kit loosening since I replaced all the bearings and such, maybe it's just one of those items you have to check periodically

that's great info, thanks
