Miles Per Dollar calculator!

oil is the cheapest form of energy to get, one day you will all understand the economics behind that.

corn due to our climate in the US is the best used plant for ethanol production. the switch grass production is bs. also it is not about corn, it is about land, as i said, go figure out on your own how much land is required to supply the US with both energy and food.

also, where you think we get our fertilizer from? how you think all that ethanol is going to get to every fuel station?

you all think that your tax dollars going to support of failing industry is a good thing? would you support the gov giving me money so i can run a non-profitable business?

you all here are so on the anti-oil band wagon it is freakin funny and sad at the same time.

how about this, lets take government olut of the energy thing all together and see how well ethanol survives, if it is truly an efficent source of energy than it should do fine in the free market right?

Actually, WIND AND SUN are the cheapest. Last time I checked, there wasn't a greedy oil person charging me for sunlight and a breeze. One day you will understand that...

No...actually, I don't expect our government to give BILLIONS in tax incentives to a OIL INDUSTRY that is already making hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars in profit. Seems I am getting violated twice. Once from the front and once from the backside. Maybe you enjoy getting, but I at least would prefer an occasional dinner and maybe a kiss on the lips.

How did the farmers feed their cattle in the old days....Oh ya, off the land. They didn't fatten up their cattle with corn products in a rush to make a profit in feeding the whole world since we have some of the best cattle meat on this planet...

Talk about taking the government out of the energy business...That would mean oil as well? Lobbyists too? Ya....then maybe we would not be sending our troops over to defend our interest (oil) over there....

It is you that has your head so far up their behinds that you better tie a rope around your waist or you're going to fall in.....

go out and purchase a windmill or solar panel and tell me just how much cheaper it is than paying for your monthly electric bill that comes from the gas and/or coal fired electric plant.

go ahead and blame oil if it makes you feel better, but in the end it will be oil that survives and ethanol that doesn't unless the government props ethanol up as its doing now because again, oil is the cheapest form of energy.

how much ethanol would be getting produced if there was no oil? natural gas? let me know that one since it requires both of those products to make mass amounts of ethanol.

tax incentives? what, you don't think its fair for a company and/or person to keep what they earn? at oil companies are getting tax breaks for generating huge revenues which in turn helps many people that hold retirement investments, stocks etc, rather than dishing out billions to a failed industry like ethanol.

and boy oh boy, just how much you hate those "greedy" oil people, people who create a profit for themselves, shame on the capitalist system, you sound like karl marx.

in the old days meat was more of a luxury unless a person lived close by to a farm or had their own livestock, thanks to modern tech everyone can now enjoy beef. since there is not enough grazing land to efficently feed cattle, farmers have resorted to feed lots, i guess again, in your karl marx view, shame on the farmer for making a profit and feeding people?

i also see no harping on farmers as to why grain prices have tripled or quadripled in price in just the last year, seems they are taking advantage of government mandated regulations to make themselves a hefty profit also since they would not be able to do it without the government's help.

You need to learn history and learn to plan for the future, both are lacking in your argument.

What college do you go to? ETSU?

$10k for an entire house solar panel kit. You would be saving around half of your power bill (in my case, that would be $150 a month or 1800 a year....It would be paid for in just about 5 and a half years....not to mention the fact that I would be lessening the need for oil. As for wind, there are some you can buy that are said to produce 1900 KWH per year with an average 12 mph wind. Said to be very quiet too. Those are priced at about $4000. Combine both and you are just that much close to being oil free...PS...I FORGOT TO MENTION THE TAX BREAK YOU GET FOR UPGRADING YOUR HOME TO AN ENERGY EFFICIENT ALTERNATIVE SOURCE SUCH AS SOLAR AND WIND.

I do blame oil but it still doesn't make me feel better. You see, we all suffer from the high cost of oil. Ask the truckers, ask the mothers who shop at grocery stores, ask people who drive cars to work. Ask the airlines. Ask farmers, cab drivers etc etc....Oil will NOT survive forever. and it is NOT all about ETHANOL. its about ALTERNATIVE FUELS. What the government is doing is encouraging companies into coming up with ALTERNATIVE FUELS with tax incentives.

Actually, if you know anything, you would realize that they have come up with ways of producing ethanol without ANY oil used. The plants use the ethanol they make to process it.

Odd...people from the oil side claim the same thing with the incentives ethanol gets. The only difference is we give oil incentives when they don't need them....why should we be giving them anything.

This last statement is full of so much BS that I will not even bother. You obviously are either uneducated, too young or just plain naive. You live in some fantasy world that will soon be shattered with a big dose of reality. Nuff said....

BTW...Excellent spelling....lol
